Statement on President Biden's Address to Congress

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

April 29, 2021

BuildingAction, the Coalition for Sustainable Buildings, today released the following statement about President Biden's address to a joint session of Congress:

"As President Biden said last night in his address to Congress, transforming America’s buildings is a job creation machine. We can put millions of Americans to work making homes, offices, schools, public buildings and more greener, healthier and more resilient to natural disasters. Investing in the buildings of the future will turbocharge our economy and make sure that the United States is a world leader In sustainability.

"The buildings where we spend 90 percent of our time are an indispensable component of our nation's infrastructure.  There are plenty of good ideas on both sides of the aisle to help the building sector create and retrofit better buildings. The details may be negotiable, but what should be beyond debate is the need to act. BuildingAction and its diverse coalition of the creators and users of buildings call on Congress and the White House to seize this moment and enact legislation that transforms our building stock to create jobs, protect the environment and improve the quality of life for the American people."
